At first it can be very exhausting but later things will get regularised. In fact,now that my MIL want to return my maid back to me ( 2 weeks back), I am having a hard time adjusting to having a dishonest person by my side. <BR/><BR/>My tricks are to cook in batches every Saturday and Sunday monday, (usually 5 meat dishes like mui choy pork, soy braised pork, ginger chicken, mushroom chicken, etc etc) and freeze them in batches of 3 meals to last throughout the week. I read an article that says the nutrient is only lost by 10% so its still a good option for me. For soup,you can put everything in the soup cooker when you get home and by the time you showered and cook one stir fry vege, the soup would have been cooked. For the kids, I freeze homemade juice every weekend too. And sometimes they eat different food from us. But kids food are very fast and easy to prepare.<BR/><BR/>For fast cleaning, i use those flat square mops that you can detach the microfibre and wash in the sink.<BR/><BR/>I use a dryer for my machine washed clothes and have someone come in to wash toilet, mop the floor twice a week. Husband does the dishes when he gets home. As compared to 14 months ago, when i find things so exhausting, now i find that things get regularised. Not too bad considering you get peace at home. U'd definitely survive w/o a maid. Can always get help from part-timers, if necessary.<BR/>When the prev Kakak's contract ended in Mac this yr, we hv oso thot of not getting a replacement. But after much consideration, the conclusion is life wud be much better (esp for the after-work tired hubby) with an extra pair of helping hands at home. So most maids are not willing to come to M'sia. And moreover the ones you get are so 'teruk' that you rather not have like the nightmares I am having now. I replied, "What"? She, "yes, after dinner, I have to pay overtime if get her to work".<BR/>Maids here have to be given an evening off to do studies, as well Sundays off. And after 3 years, maids can apply for PR here, bring their family.<BR/><BR/>Thus none of our 50 or more Malaysian or Singapore friends here have maids...and for those with daughters, even sons above 6 years old...all are requested to lend a helping hand at home, taking turns.<BR/>For those who have money, can call "Molly Maids", a company that will send one or two maids to your house do the cleaning etc etc, for $50 an hour, (Rgt 170) once or twice a week. The maids are bonded and company well known, reputable too.<BR/>Some of the maids are nos 4, even a 6, *wink*, ha ha.<BR/>Hey, get hubby lend a helping hand, ha ha.<BR/>Here, my wife does everything, cooking, washing up, toilet cleaning etc....I do the vacuming, tidying up, wiping anything needs wiping from dust whatever...I don't do laundry as I don't know how to fold a dress or shirt, ha ha, malu la.<BR/><BR/>Old days, I had several maids when I was a bachelor, keep house for me...they hardly any work as I was alone, had lived in maids as well part time ones...I was away from home 3 weeks of the month too on business.
