Many would say a three year old child doesn’t need to go to nursery because they are too young and do not need unnecessary stress. Well, I do agree that a three year old doesn’t need extra stress but what if he or she enjoys going to nursery?
Nyn went to nursery last year when she was three and she enjoyed herself tremendously. There was no homework, just lots of fun and play incorporated into the academic syllabus (nothing more than just ABC and 123).
Today, she proudly marched into the class of 4 years old children. Last year, she got an academic award – STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD during her concert and she made us proud. Academic awards, be it framed certificates or a trophies, somehow act as motivators to boost children’s enthusiasm and passion in learning.
The teachers told Nyn to continue being “good” (academic and behavior) and try to be the student of the year again this year. Well, I’m not giving her any pressure and I’m glad she is not pushing herself towards this. She does everything in school happily and naturally and I know she would do great.

wow that is so wonderful. its good to start them young, not academically but socially. they learn faster through play and if they like it at this age, its easier to integrate them to kindy.
