After a four day trip to Singapore, we are finally back home. For us, it was a wonderful trip and we learned several lessons too.
The first thing we learn about Singapore is that the hotel rate kills! We paid S$235 per room per night for a standard room, equivalent to about RM564. With that same amount of money, we can get the best hotel room in Malaysia! So, when we entered the hotel room in Singapore, we expected a modern bedroom or contemporary bedroom with some modern bedroom furniture but it turned out to be a normal room and not that big either. Well, maybe we should not even expect. Two nights there and you know how much it costs.
When we decided to extend our stay for another night, we stayed in our friend’s house and we thought it was better than the hotel. Well, it was not a typical Italian bedroom but it was comfortable and all of us had a good night sleep.
The second thing we learn about Singapore is that the entrance fee to places of interest digs a hole in our pocket too but we knew it was unavoidable. We had to see what Singapore offers and I thought the visits were worth while.
The third thing we learn about Singapore is that it’s better to drive than to take a cab. It’s way cheaper. Hubby was brave enough to drive without knowing a single street or highway and he managed to get to every place we wanted to go with the help of his GPS.
I wonder if he would be brave enough to drive in UK when we go over to UK one day. It would be nice to go on a free and easy trip to UK, staying in one of the holiday lodges in Cornwall and have fun.

Good morning Jo-N,

Ya lor, a big portion of our expense was for accommodation during our trip there last yr. If u can get corporate/special rate, then more worth it.
Looking forward to reading all your snippets!
yup agree with you, everything is expensive compare to Malaysia if you convert it to RM, hehe...
So great! You can meet Ling..and even drive every where!
Wow that is very expensive for a hotel room!
Everything is getting more costly here. *sigh*
totally agree with u, i supposed the kids went along too?
I went to Sg last week too - day trip only bcos too stingy to pay hotel rates. I stayed in Johor, but I'm Johorean lah.
Going again in Dec with in-laws and booking a service apartment (min stay is 1 week) on Orchard Road. Works out cheaper than the hotel, with a family to a room. Also have kitchen and living room, so more spacious.
Hi Jo-n, I too love Singapore, as well it holds lots of memories.
Can see you and family had a real good time there.
Yes, heard its not cheap too as currency x'change much higher.
Anyway, you keep well and have a great week, Lee.
