A House of Green

My parents came to visit us and as usual, we would chat and exchange news. They would talk about what happen in my home town and about the people there. They told me about their friend who got Chikungunya, a disease similar to Dengue fever and caused by Aedes mosquito.


Thinking back, I have been to that uncle’s (“Uncle” is what we would call each and every male friend of my parents) house several times when I was younger, a house I would never forget. It was a plain house from outside, just like everyone else’s house but when I march into the house, I was amazed by the creativity of that uncle and his wife. That was really a very artistic house from the arrangement of furniture to the decorative items.


What captured my attention most was an open space inside the house where he places his planters full of beautiful plants and the roof was transparent for that particular area. He was clever and brave enough to design it like that to allow the sunlight in. He uses indoor planters and outdoor planters all around his house, making his house look like a botanical garden. Obviously, he is a person who likes greens.


Thank goodness he is fine now. It is always sad to hear news about sickness or accident of people I know.
