Karl Lost Something

A tooth!

He was so excited about it when his first tooth dropped.

Karl: Mummy, mummy, look!

I was excited too. I quickly snapped a picture of the tooth but it’s not clear enough to be shown here.

Next, my instinct told me that I have to grab this opportunity to talk to him about his behavior:

Me: Karl, you have lost a tooth today.

Karl: Yes, mummy.

Me: Is it painful?

Karl: No, not painful.

Me: Yay! Do you know what it means when you loose a tooth? It means you are a big boy now!

Karl: Haha, I’m a big boy now.

Me: Do you know how a big boy should behave?

Karl: I know, I must help mummy and daddy to do work and I must help kakak (my maid) to sweep the floor.

Me: That’s right. You have to do many things yourself. You have to be independent and you have to change your bad habits. Big boys don’t jump about, big boys don’t cry when mummy say NO, big boys don’t quarrel and fight with brothers and sisters. Big boys love brothers and sisters and teach them to be good.

Karl: (Smile)

He seems to understand. I hope he really understands. It is so much easier to talk to him when he is happy and when I am calm. That is a new tactic I learnt, to teach my children wherever and whenever possible. What about you?

Husband's New Love

My husband has a new love. He would spend lots of time with his new found love, looking at it and exploring it everyday. He aroused the children’s curiosity and got them all excited about it too.

Now, I wonder where he finds his love, his Global Positioning System (GPS). Did he buy it from the shop or did he play text based reverse-auction game online and won some free gifts or cash prize? Everything is possible in this IT driven world where you can find almost anything online. bid4prizes.com is one website which offers sweepstake with amazing prizes to be won simply by guessing the lowest unique number for a particular prize. It is that easy!

If I know my husband well enough, he is a person who will dig out his own pocket money to purchase something he likes. So, my guess would be he bought it from the shop.

Say "ee"

Do you have problem brushing your children’s teeth? Karl can brush his own teeth while Wayne and Nyn are two difficult children who do not want to open their mouth and that make brushing difficult.

So, I thought of an idea to make them open their mouth. I sang them a song:

This is the way we say “ee ee”
We say “ee ee”
We say “ee ee”

This is the way we say “ee ee”
On a cold and frosty morning

So, when they say “ee”, I would brush the outer part of their teeth. Then, the song continued:

This is the way we say “ah ah”
We say “ah ah”
We say “ah ah”

This is the way we say “ah ah”
On a cold and frosty morning

When they say “ah”, I would brush the inner part of their teeth.

This method seems to work for both of them but yesterday, Nyn refused to open her mouth. I tried many methods but she just kept her mouth shut tightly. So, I think I have to think of another way to make her open her mouth.

Can you share with me how you handle your children when it comes to brushing of their teeth?

Self Defense For My Children

People who have seen me would never believe that I have learnt Taekwondo and have even obtained a black belt before I ventured into Chinese martial art. Taekwondo and Chinese martial art are my form of exercise to keep myself healthy and fit. When it comes to life threatening moments, I doubt I can use these skills to escape and save my own life.

Now, having children of my own puts me in a difficult position. Do I want to send them for martial art classes or do I want to put them under Close Combat Training taught by the world leader in self defense? The world today is not safe anymore. When I flip through the newspapers, all I see is crime and violence everywhere. How are our children going to survive in this world if they are not equipped with self defense skills?

It would be wonderful if we can obtain more information on the truth about martial arts and I would even consider Captain Chris’ Close Combat for myself and my children. Love is to provide our children with skills to survive in this turbulent world.

For me, the year 2007 had a lot of happiness (and hope for 2008). Happiness because i see my son, grow and grow day by day. I have a great husband. I met lots of new friends from around the world via blogging ^_^ - Juliana RW

In 2007, I become happier than before because my hubby’s got promotion and sure his salary had been increased. This had made my life more comfortable but everything seemed to cost an arm and a leg nowadays. The happiest memory is I see Nelson’s tummy becoming bigger and bigger, he can now count number 1 to number 10, by my guidance. He loves eating and he enjoys every meal. He gives us a lot of happiness by the way he mimic our talking style and making such lovely faces. At first, I was so scared to look after him but now I hope he can be with me all the time. Even I feel tired everyday but I feel my life is meaningful.Hazel

Year 2007 has been a terrific year for me. I was introduced to blogging by Chinnee and through blogging, I made many new friends and through blogging, I found my passion in writing. Because of this, I have a BIG DREAM now which is to write a book or an e-book although I still do not have any idea how to go about it. This is the year Karl joins the Sunday Dhamma School and this is also how I become the co-facilitator of SDS and will be a facilitator next year. Wayne and Nyn join the playgroup this year and they love the playgroup. The biggest milestone for me this year is that I’m very much into POSITIVE PARENTING after seeing the negative effects on my children. Now, I believe that patience and love will help my children to change. JO-N

Time And Money Well Spent

Our trip to Malacca was wonderful. Although we have been to Malacca many times, this was the first time we stayed in a five star hotel. Despite waiting for two hours upon checking in, we generally like the room and the children enjoyed their swim.

We took a trishaw ride that enabled us to see many places of interest and some tourist attractions. The boys loved the ride and I enjoyed too as the boys were able to sit still for about 20 minutes and that means rest for me.

That evening, we met Miche, Jesslyn and Leah. I love meeting them but time was too short for me to really learn from my “seniors” although I have gained some new knowledge about blogging. We hope to meet again and I think we will.

Now, this trip kept me thinking about the use of money. If we have gone overseas with the children, we would be spending a lot more. As long as time is well spent and everybody is happy, I would say that the trip is good. So, it really doesn’t matter where we go but who our traveling companions are.

I think you would agree with me that money earned must be spent wisely especially when you have children. Wouldn’t it be better to save some money for their education? My husband is one who does not believe in putting his money in a fixed deposit or insurance. He would rather invest his money in properties. To him, that will generate income and properties invested will be our children’s education fund.

Some people may think that investing in shares or bond would be a better move. For me, I wouldn’t want to put all eggs in one basket. Investing in gold or gold bullion would be another alternative. Gold is in great demand and its value has increased tremendously over these five years. If you look at the gold price chart, you would agree that gold is quite a secure investment. So, I may want to influence my husband to buy gold for the sake of our children’s future.

Now, what do you think? What is your ideal vacation? What about your mode of investment? Many of you have children and being parents, we worried about everything including our children’s education fund. I would love to hear your opinions and views.

Home Sweet Home

I am home from my vacation. How nice to be home. Please bear with me for a little while more because I have 667 unread posts in my google reader and I am in the midst of organizing my blogroll. So, if you don't see your blog in my blogroll, do not worry. It will be there very soon.

Away

It is 12.30am now and in another 9 to 10 hours, I will be heading south to Malacca with my family. Spending some fun and quality time with the children is always rewarding for me. I will be meeting Miche and Jesslyn tomorrow evening and I do hope that Leah, LiLi, Hazel, Yenny, Jason and other Malacca bloggers can join us. Details here.

Til then, here's wishing you a happy weekend.

Unleash Your Potential - Part 2

Continued from Part 1:

There are many stories of successful people such as Colonel Sanders who received 1,099 times of “NO” (rejection) before he finally got a “YES” when he started selling his chicken recipe. Today, everybody knows the famous KFC. There are many more but I'll just spare them for this post. From these stories, there is only ONE conclusion which is successful people fail many times but their failure gives them experience and experience then brings about success.

Meredith shared with us her story too about how she was elected as the house captain of the house which always end up last in every sports event. She was the only captain who was not good in sports but she did what she does best - to lead and her house won the first place that year.

Let me share with you another two video clips:

Video clip 3:

Video clip 4:

From these two video clips, what do you see? Do you see shabbily dressed salesman and a little 6 year old girl with no teeth? NO! We see two beautiful people doing what they are passionate about and everybody was cheering for them. They manage to capture the judges' and the audience’s heart with their passion. If they were to fear that they do not have the appearance to win, they would never have won. This is also an important issue to discuss with my kids. They just need to know that they should go for something that they like and enjoy doing. This serves also as a reminder to us, parents, to encourage our children to have big dreams, even wild dreams and to try their very best.

The last part was very interesting - writing on boards, one side about what they want to achieve in life and another side about what is holding them back. Then, she made them focus, thinking beyond what is stoping them such as fear and lack of confidence and then .......

Breaking the board gives the teenagers satisfaction and boost their confidence that if they break the fear and lack of confidence or whatever is holding them back, they will definitely achieve their dreams.

Hearing the teenagers' expression of feelings at the end of the workshop made me cry. Maybe I'm the sentimental one but to hear how they feel this workshop has motivated them and will change their life just touch me tremendously.

Meredith had done a wonderful job and given the best gift to the teenagers before she leaves for Australia. Meredith, YOU ROCK!!!

Do You Talk To Your Children About Their Body Parts?

Do you discuss with your children about their body parts especially those private areas? Do you talk to them about personal safety and sexual harassment? Most Asians feel very awkward discussing these issues and would use some nicknames for the private area such as “bird” or “birdie” for the penis and “pet pet” and even “flower” or “dark mountain” for the vagina instead of using the scientific names.

Is there a need to use scientific names for the private area? Many people don’t see the need but it is actually very important. Why is that so?

I quote a story told by PS The Children, an NGO in Malaysia:

A woman taught her daughter that her vagina is called “flower”. So, one day, while the woman was cooking, the little girl came in and told her mother that a boy touched her “flower”. The mother was busy and did not relate the “flower” to be her daughter’s vagina. She told her daughter that it’s ok if people touch her flower (meaning the real flower) and she should not make a fuss out of it.

Gosh! She has sent the wrong message to her daughter.

I see urgency in teaching our children (sons and daughters) from young about their body parts and how they can take care of them. They should be taught to differentiate a good touch and a bad touch and to speak up when he/she does not feel comfortable when someone touches him/her.

Sometimes, I would take a bath together with my little girl and that is when I would ask her about her body parts. “Where is your navel?”, “Where is your …?” and she would point to me. This would then be followed by demonstrations of a good touch and a bad touch and questions like “Can a boy touch you here?” and “What about your brother and your father? Can they touch you here and here?” as well as “What happens if they touch you? What must you do?” By repeating, I hope she would be able to remember and would know what to do if she encounters such situations.

What about you? How do you educate your children about their personal safety?

A Very Domestic Holiday

Our trip to Singapore has been cancelled! I can’t meet Trinity! I feel so sad. Although we don’t get to go to Singapore, we can still have fun here in Malaysia. So, hubby and I plan a very “domestic” holiday for us and the children.

So, what is that very “domestic” holiday?

A buffet dinner – We went to Renaissance KL last Saturday and the kids enjoyed the chocolate fountain tremendously.

A movie at the cinema – Last Wednesday, we brought our children to the cinema for this movie. It was wonderful. I just love the story and the characters and if you ask me to watch again, I would be very happy to say “YES”.

One night stay at a five star hotel – It would be this Saturday. We are going to put up a night in Malacca and I will meet Miche, Jesslyn and maybe other bloggers in Malacca. It would be wonderful to meet them. I am so excited! For those who are staying in Malacca, do come and join us. Here are the details.

As long as we do everything as a family, it doesn't matter where we go and what we do. I'm happy to have a close family. So, how do you spend your holidays?

Unleash Your Potential - Part 1

As I have mentioned in my previous post, I attended “Best Of You Teenager Workshop 2007” conducted by my friend, Meredith. This workshop was really wonderful!

The workshop was all about unleashing one’s potential. You can feel the whole positive energy circulating during the workshop. Meredith was fantastic with her presentation. She made the participants dance, she made them introduce themselves by writing a description in front of their names and she made them talk about their problems, their fear and what they want to achieve in life. As part of her presentation, Meredith showed us a few video clips and told us a few life stories that inspired us tremendously. Let me share with you the video clips:

First video clip: Facing the giants

Meredith was trying to tell us that everybody has a certain potential within them and they need a coach to unleash the potential so that they can use their potential to the fullest. We are often deceived by our eyes. The more we look, the more we fear. So, fear is something that prevents us from moving ahead. How true this is. We often fear that we are not good enough, we fear that we make mistakes, we fear that people would laugh at us, we fear everything and that are the reasons we are holding back instead of stepping forward.

Second video clip: Nick Vujicic, No Arms, No Legs, No Worries

When I saw this, I told myself that I MUST show this to my children and let them see with their own eyes how a man without arms and legs could do lots of things without feeling inferior about himself. He can even give talks to inspire people. "What happens if you fail? Try again!" A wonderful phrase I learn from Nick and that's just the phrase I need to implant into my children's brain.

Blog and Get Paid

Before I knew Chinnee, I do not know anything about blogging. Each time after our playgroup sessions, I would visit Chinnee’s blog for playgroup updates and from there, I read her other posts and then, hop over to other people’s blogs. When Chinnee told me that she gets paid to blog, I was very surprised. I have no idea how a person can blog for money.

Now, after starting my own blog, I thought I may just try to earn some pocket money while I blog. I find this opportunity in Smorty, a service that allows bloggers to express their opinion about products and services of advertisers by writing about it and linking back to the advertisers’ website. One thing I like about Smorty is the flexibility it gives to the bloggers to choose posts that they feel comfortable with and to write them in their own way. Smorty pays every seven days unlike others who pay every thirty days. Advertisers find it effective to advertise on blogs through Smorty and that creates a win-win situation for both advertisers and bloggers.

So, I have registered with Smorty and I would like to thank Michelle for recommending it to me. For those who have not signed up with Smorty, do consider it and start to get paid for blogging.

When You Have Three Kids ...

What happens when you have three children? Do you still enjoy life? Well, I would say that life is totally different and many sacrifices have to be made. You can’t be going out with friends all the time when you have crying babies and demanding children to attend to. You can’t be wearing sexy dresses when you have to worry about your children throwing out on you and pulling your dress but you can still look presentable with a nice blouse and light makeup.

Now with three kids, I often go out in jeans without a handbag. You may want to ask me why and I can tell you that it is really not convenient to wear a dress and to carry a handbag while looking after three active children. You may have to chase them at times and bend up and down if you know what I mean.

So, do I enjoy my current life? I DO! With the children around, I miss many things but I gain a lot too! At least I spend time with my children, laugh with them, learn with them and grow with them. Off course when they are naughty, I get very angry but come to think of it, they are my angels, training my patience and I have to thank them in return. These moments are precious to me and I love every minute of it. I can still go shopping for handbags and sexy dresses when they grow up. It will never be too late.

Garden Party - Playgroup 1 December 2007

My children look forward to each and every playgroup session and I definitely know why. The sessions are just so fun and enjoyable that no one would miss without regrets.

Last Saturday, we had an outdoor session – our very own garden party. Each one of us brought some food to be shared and we had the party in the park near Cheng Sim’s house. It is a big park with lots of space for the children to cycle and run about. For a change, we had some fresh air and the children got to do their favorite activity - to use their energy to run, jump and move!

The mothers and fathers were all having a great time eating and chatting away, bonding with each other and that’s the reason we feel so close to one another. The friendship is one that all of us would treasure. The children divided themselves into the bicycle team and the playground team. All of them enjoyed playing and moving and you can see their smiles on their faces. It was indeed a wonderful outdoor session!

An Award Winning Shopping Cart Software

I am starting my online retail business and I am still working on it. It is not easy as I need to list all products with their descriptions, shipping policy, payment options and a shopping cart system to enable the customers to purchase products with ease. E-commerce software and shopping cart software are what I need to start my online retail business.

There are many shopping cart software if you look around but Ashop Shopping Cart Software with its award winning features caught my attention. It is a good software for the merchants as well as the customers.

With its integration with major banks, gateways and third party processors, it makes payment easy and secure for the customers. Customers would find it very user friendly and easy when purchasing online and that guarantees returning customers.

The software comes in a package with technical support and customer service, which I think is very important and useful for the merchants along the way. With its search engine optimized structure, it enables the merchants’ products to appear on top of the list in major search engines. The design can be customized to help merchants create a personalized appearance for their sites. Most importantly it is affordable to own this incredible shopping cart software that will help you bring your online business to the next level. So, I may want to consider Ashop’s web based and easily installed shopping cart software for my online retail business.

Licking

This post is about Wayne again. He is the middle child and the most difficult child to deal with.

One day, he was watching a television program and he was licking his hands and legs. I don’t know why and how on earth he gets that habit but I know I have to do something to stop that. I told him to stop several times but he didn’t obey. So, I came out with this:

Me: Everybody, mummy is going to buy lollipops and only Karl and Nyn will get the lollipop. Wayne will not get one.

Wayne: Why mummy? I want a lollipop too.

Me: You want a lollipop? I thought your hands and legs taste better. You like to lick your hands and legs more than the lollipop, right?

Wayne: No, I like to lick the lollipop.

Me: Oh, I see. So, which do you want now?

Wayne: Lollipop.

Me: So, you got to stop licking your hands and legs. If you lick your hands and legs, your action is telling me that you like to lick your hands and legs and so, I don’t have to buy a lollipop for you because you found something to lick.

Wayne: I want lollipop, I want lollipop. (Stops licking)

I think I am a crazy mom!! I don't know when the licking habit will return but I hope it will not.

A Wonderful Friend

Last Sunday, I attended the “Best of You Teenager Workshop” which I mentioned in my previous post. I was there to help my friend, Meredith, who gave this course for free as her contribution before she migrates to Australia early next year. She has been very busy engaging movers to move her house contents but at the same time, she gave us her commitment to conduct this workshop. She is so wonderful!

During the workshop, she told us that she decides to migrate because she wants to give her children a better education. I totally agree with her because I could see the difference between local university graduates and graduates from overseas. Have you wondered why the top CEOs of big companies are all Europeans but not Asians?

I know the hassle of migrating. You have to sell your house here and buy a house there. Getting mortgages or home loan is an item to be added to your list of things to do. Expenses can never be low when migrating. There are just too many things to pay for such as insurance for traveling, fees for movers and expenses on new house and furniture.

There are many things to worry about but Meredith is very positive and knows that once she commits herself, she will definitely deliver and she did!

Let me share with you what I learnt through helping her in that workshop in my next post.

What Kind Of Girl Are You?

I came across this test while browsing and I was curious to find out about myself. So, I answered several questions and here's my result:

You are a Career Girl!

You may not be a CEO yet, but you're well on your way to success.
You take your career seriously, and you wouldn't stop working for any guy!
An independent woman, you pay for your own car, clothes, and housing.
And men appreciate that - at least, the ones as driven as you are.

No wonder I am a WAHM now. I can never live without having my own earning power. Does it also explain why I can't cook and bake?

Which Baby Products Are Better?

I have been married for seven years and now I am a mother of three. Time really flies. My youngest is two now and my eldest would be entering primary school next year or rather next month.

I could recall the year I was pregnant with my first child. Being a first time mother, I was nervous about parenting and didn’t know what to buy for my baby and which model or brand to go for. Recently I came across this website on baby products review and I love it! When I browse through, I could see a great variety of baby products and baby equipment. Each and every one of them contains reviews and rating by experts and users. To name a few, there are diaper bags, feeding sets, car seats, baby carriers, safety gates and thermometer. It is really useful for new mothers to compare and read about the products they are about to buy to ensure that the products suit them and their babies.

That’s not all! There are even reviews on UK hospitals, which I find very interesting and very lacking in Malaysia. To find a hospital of your choice is not easy. How can we survey each and every hospital to find out the number of delivery rooms, number of beds available and number of birth per year? It seems so impossible but by clicking on hospital reviews in babyfy.com, you get all the statistics at a glance. Isn’t that wonderful?

You can also find a lot of useful information in babyfy.com such as “How do you know when your child is seriously ill?” I personally find it very informational and I do learn a lot from there. Babyfy.com is really a good site to visit and I strongly recommend that you see it for yourself.

Which Group Does Your Child Belong To?

Nowadays, many parents would complain about their children being too active. These children are full of energy and just cannot sit still. Is there anything wrong with these children? ABSOLUTELY NOT! They are just another type of learner called the Kinaesthetic Learner.

I have attended a workshop on teaching skill, a great workshop conducted by an ex-lecturer of UM (one of the local universities in Malaysia) and have read the “Parenthink” magazine about an interesting topic called the multiple intelligences.

I quote from “Parenthink Magazine”, October issue:

“Howard Gardner talked about multiple intelligences which gave a definition of human nature in a cognitive perspective and he said that humans develop the most when their intelligences are discovered and promoted.”

Gardner’s model of the seven multiple intelligences at a glance:

Intelligence Type --------- Capability and perception
Linguistic -------------------- Words and language
Logical-Mathematical ------- Logic and numbers
Musical ---------------------- Music, sound, rhythm
Bodily-Kinaesthetic ---------- Body movement control
Spatial-Visual --------------- Images and space
Interpersonal --------------- Other people’s feelings
Intrapersonal --------------- Self-awareness

Often, when people see children who like to run, jump and touch everything, they would shake their heads and say that these children are naughty. When you think further, are these children really that bad? I really don’t think so. They are just not the quiet type who can sit in front of the television for hours without turning their heads and they are just not the type who would turn left when you say left. These children are often the smart children who want to explore and learn more and they are the ones who have a mind of their own and want their voice to be heard.

If we force these children to sit still and read or write, do you think they are happy? Happy children learn best! So, when they are not happy, reading and writing become a waste of time as nothing will go into their head. It doesn’t mean that these children will never learn how to read and write but it rather means that these children need other learning methods to produce results. There are many fun ways to promote learning. For me, I like to try different learning methods and make the lessons fun. I want to see my children enjoy while learning and I want them to pick up faster and remember better. (I will share with you some fun learning methods in my subsequent posts. Do remember to read about it.)

So, have you analyzed your children? Which group does your child belong to? When you get the answer, maybe you would learn how to say yes to certain things that you said no previously.

Dyson Online Store

I salute technology. There are so many wonders technology brings to us. If you are a work at home mom like me, you would definitely need equipments such as a vacuum cleaner. It makes life easier.

When you think of vacuum cleaners, Dyson online store is a website you should visit. Dyson online store has a great variety of vacuum cleaners ranging from the upright vacuum cleaners to the cylinders and the handhelds. These vacuum cleaners are made to suit various types of people such as people with allergies, pet owners, people who want a vacuum cleaner that suits all floor types, people who prefer lightweight vacuum cleaners and people who want a vacuum cleaner which is easy to store. Dyson actually helps you to choose a model that suits you best. Isn’t it great?

The website is very user friendly. You can view the details of each model, exploring its features and specification. There is even a 360 degree spin for you to view the whole product and it feels so real! If you have already bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner, you can get some parts and accessories easily found in their online store. The support is great too. It actually covers areas of how to use a Dyson vacuum cleaner, expert help, repair and servicing as well as cleaning tips.

It’s wonderful touring Dyson online store as I pick up new information which I did not know previously.

Does Your Child Bite?

I was chatting with Miche the other day about children biting their siblings and two to three days ago, Wayne BIT Karl!!! I just told Miche that Wayne used to bite his brother last time but has stopped for quite some time. Gosh! I should have kept my mouth shut! Now, he starts biting his brother again.

What do I do then? Let me share with you:

Me: Wayne, is your brother a chicken?
Wayne: No (Looking at me, very puzzled over my question.)
Me: Then, when you feel like biting, go and bite a chicken or bread or fish. Don’t bite your brother cos he’s not a chicken.
Me: When you feel like hitting someone, go and hit the pillow or the sofa so that nobody will get hurt.
Wayne: When I want to bite, I bite the chicken?
Me: Yes.
Wayne: When I want to hit, I hit the pillow?
Me: Yes.
Wayne: (Smiling now) Ok.

Phew! I was telling Jacss about giving the children little surprises to stop fights, quarrels or misbehavior. I guess this is what I call a surprise because it turns a crying boy into a smiling boy and it stops negative behavior. Since that day, Wayne did not bite Karl and hopefully he will stop this habit forever.

No Fax Payday Loan

It’s funny how people can’t live without internet nowadays. My husband and I can sit in front of the computer for hours browsing the web and searching for information.

While browsing, I came across this website that offers no fax payday loan or you can call it a cash advance. Well, when there is a website like that, you can imagine the need of today’s people around the world. Many people actually need money and are short of money! If you have children, you would know that expenses can go up really high each month for food, clothing, toys, school fees, you name it! If you are a working couple, you have to spare some for the baby sitter, petrol and toll. It’s really not a surprise to see so many people in need of cash advance while waiting for their salary to be deposited into their bank account.

So, payday loan becomes the solution of these people who can just apply online in just a few seconds without having to prepare piles of documents for submission. They can easily apply for a loan amounting to USD200 – USD1500 and before applying, they can even get a free quote with no obligation. All these are available and made convenient for just anybody who needs the cash.

Playgroup Update - 24 November 2007

Last Saturday’s playgroup session was wonderful! Not many people turned up that day but it was a day we became proud parents of our little ones.

So, what made us so proud? Look at the pictures below:

The children actually took over the mothers’ role on story telling and their courage is one we have to praise. Jia Jun started the story telling session with a Chinese story and he did a great job in his presentation. With the correct pronunciation and wonderful intonation, he caught the children’s attention and made the mothers listen with admiration. If you were there to listen to his story, you would never have guessed that he is only 3 years old! Karl continued the session with a Christmas story, asking everybody to guess the characters by their shadows. The two little two year old girls did not want to be left out as well. Audrey took out a book to read in front of everybody. Although it was short, everybody enjoyed her courage. Nyn did something very different. She presented a Malay rhyme with cute actions and I was so proud of her that day.

We did a beautiful craft, prepared by Kristin and it came in just in time as Christmas is around the corner.

Materials:
White card
Green textured paper
Other colored paper
Sequins
Cotton wool
Glue

Methods:
Cut the white card into your preferred size
Draw a Christmas tree on the green textured paper and cut it out
Glue the Christmas tree onto the white card
Cut out shapes like stars, ribbon and other ornaments
Glue the cut out shapes onto the Christmas tree
Glue sequins and cotton wool on the Christmas tree
Your sparkling Christmas tree is ready!

So, what do I do with the craft? Look at the following picture:

It makes a great Christmas decorations!

Shop Online

I have been using the internet to do many things such as to pay bills, to track shipments and to purchase goods. It is so convenient that with just a click of the mouse, everything is done in just a few seconds without us having to be stuck in a traffic jam and without us having to queue up for our turn. It just helps to save time and energy.

I have shopped for nursing wears and baby products online and I like the whole concept of shopping online. Nowadays, I shop for many things online. I came across Secondact, an online retail website which offers a variety of high-definition televisions (HDTV) both refurbished and new from factory closeouts and overstocks. There are many brands and sizes to choose from and most importantly the prices are very competitive compared to others. Apart from that, there is a feature called “Great Deal of the Day” where we can find further discount for a featured item for that particular day. Isn’t it great? It actually helps us to save money!

So, if my husband ever mention about changing a television, I would take him on a tour to Secondact to search for a suitable television set for our home.
