Transform Your Energy

"Transform your energy"

This is a phrase I use very often with my children who are all full of energy. It seems to me that they are like Energizer batteries. The moment they open their eyes, they start moving and talking and they would only stop when they are asleep.

This energy that my children have can be good or bad, depending on how they use it. So, every time when they use their energy in a wrong way like disturbing their siblings or touching things that are not allowed, I would say: “Transform your energy into doing something good.”

Example 1:

When I bathe Wayne, he would not stand still. He would touch the shampoos and shower foams that are on the rack. So, I told him: “Wayne, transform your energy. Instead of touching those things on the rack, why don’t you scrub your body?” So, he happily did what I suggested. That took care of his itchy hands, Phew!

Example 2:

When Karl and Wayne were arguing and fighting over something, I told them: “Boys, why don’t you transform your energy and do something good and useful such as reading, doing your homework, work on a jigsaw puzzle or build something with the LEGO set?”
Then, after awhile, Karl and Wayne showed me what they had done.

That’s how I deal with these “sunshine children” of mine. (“Sunshine Children” is a term used for active and smart children, which I learnt from the radio)

What about you? Care to share your experience?

XY will oso not stay still when I bathe her. Even when she's scrubbing herself, she'd be so playful n rough, the soap n bubbles will get on me. :|

when things like this happen i get very mang jang. and if i say transform energy to ian, he would ask me what that is, how to explain?

JO-N said...

Wen,

It's good if he ask you cos at least he stops his naughty action and listen.

Tell him that energy is something that he can't see. Energy is needed when he moves or does something. Without energy, he can't move. Everyone has energy and tell him he has lots of energy cos he can do so many things (name the things that he does).

Tell him transform means change. Change his action from naughty to useful or good. Give example.

Hehe. That will be an English and Science lesson for Ian.

if i were to tell shern, sure he'll ask "why"? he's so full of "whys".

Shern's Mom,

Kids with lots of "why" are smart kids. So, you have to do lots of homework to be able to anser his questions, eh?

Jas,

YOu never know, it might work. Just don't use the phrase but use examples like would it be better to this than that.
