Ooo... Poor children! Poor innocent souls! They are being scared by their own parents!
Have you ever wonder why some children are brave while others are always afraid of something? There's no such thing as fear if we as parents don't put fear in their mind. I remember once when my little honey angel was afraid of the dark and dared not go to the backyard one night. I told her: "Hey, look, there's nothing to be afraid of. It's just dark because it's night time and there is no sunlight, no lights. Look, mummy is not scared. Come here with mummy, Nyn is not scared, right?" I took her in my arms and went to the backyard with her. After that she was not scared of darkness anymore.
To all mothers out there, please be brave as a mother because your children look up to you as their role model. SO, if you are scared of little things like the cocroach or the lizard, please try not to show your fear in front of your children. You don't want them to grow up fearing this and that, do you?

Well written. Always be positive with the kids. We try not to use the word "scared" or anything related to fear.
I'm scared of snakes and I have fear on surgery clips showing on the TV. But often I have to put on the brave face in front of my kids.

I totally agreed that we mother shld not have scare our own kids… but sometimes I really have no other choice! My lil Wen Wen (turning 2 next month) is too brave for everything until she fell off from staircase when she was 16 months. Thanks god, no hurt!
Told and explain don’t know how many thousands timessss that she is small baby and baby must hold mummy hand when we do shopping/cross the road. She doesn’t seems to understand, no choice hv to scare her by telling her that if she doesn’t hold mummy hand, bad uncle will come and kidnap baby and lock her in the cage and no food, no mummy daddy, no bed… and seems quite effective, if I let go her hand in the shopping complex, she will say ‘mummy, hold Wen Wen, later bad uncle kidnap Wen Wen’. Easy way to solve my prob even though it might not b the right way!

I think that's fine because that is the truth. Nowadays, there are bad people who will kidnap children and what you are teaching Wen Wen is to be very careful and to stay close to daddy and mummy. Great job, Kelly!
What I mean is that we should not scare them with things that are not truth like: Sit still or the Police will catch you. This is not true because we all know that police will not catch children who do not sit still. However if you say, don't steal or the police will catch you, that's perfectly fine because that is the truth.
