I have been to Saisaki and Shogun for Japanese buffet several times but I have never tried this one before although I have heard people praising about it. So, on Tuesday (11.9.07), my hubby and I went to Jogoya at Starhill Galery to check it out.
Guess what? We had a wonderful meal (late lunch) that last us through dinner and we took our light supper only at 9:30pm. Look at the leaflet that I took back:
Yes, there are definitely lots of varieties ranging from sushi, tempura, teppanyaki, Indian cuisine, Taiwanese food, lots of dessert and Haagen-Dazs ice-cream, not forgetting also the FRESH, BIG OYSTER!

So, we went straight for the appetizers. Look at the appetizer they serve. Don't they look appetizing? I have never tasted these before and have not even seen these before. The dish that I like best out of the four is the fish skin (top right). It tasted like jelly in a way.

After the appetizer, the next thing was to go for the sushi. There were so many types of sushi there but I went only for those special sushi that I have never seen or tasted. Look at the purple sushi on the right. Hey, do you know what? It's not made of rice but soft yam paste (I think). The crystal sushi was also special. The skin is just like the snow skin of mooncakes. The one next to the crystal sushi was made of chapati (So, there's also "clones" or if you like, you can call it a "mix marriage" in food). Haha...
Some of the food here are self service and some need to be ordered. How do you order? There's no menu. All you have to do is to walk around the kitchens (There are a few) and look at the samples of food. If you decide to order, just place a clip with your table number written, into a small bowl in front of the samples. The order will be sent to your table.
If you do go to Jogoya, be sure to drink the coconut water. It's fantastic! Don't forget the desserts too. There are so many types of cookies like the almond flakes and the pistachio cookies, a variety of cheese cakes, many flavours of Japanese mochi, and other delicious tarts and cakes.
For ice-cream lovers, you've come to the right place. Here, they serve Haagen-Dazs! Yes, Haagen-Dazs but the sad thing is there's only 6 flavours. Anyway, it is enough to end your meal with a smile.

I think Saisaki's food is as good as Jogoya but there are several food that you don't find in Saisaki. That's all.
