Don’t you just love the blue dino? They still look new, don’t they?

These two diapers look a little faded but the condition is no doubt good.

These inserts are in good condition too but they are a little blue in color due to the stain caused by other clothing.

Mothers

Warning: Long post

When I read Tot’s Mom’s post on whether we should pay our children to do house chores, I knew I would say NO. Let me share with you this story and see whether you agree with me.

A little boy handed his mother a piece of paper with a note that he wrote. The mother took the paper and started reading.

The boy had written in big handwriting:

$2 for washing the dishes.

$1 for making my bed this week.

For running errands, $2 I seek.

$2 for sweeping the floor.

My other friends asked for much more.

$5 for my good report card, Mummy!

Clearing our garden - $3 is due for me.

So Mummy, you can see very clearly, you owe me quite a big sum of money.

The mother looked at him standing there expectantly. A thousand memories flashed through her mind instantly. She picked up the paper and turned it over. The words she wrote would make you think and ponder.

For the 9 months I carried you, growing inside me,

NO CHARGE.

For the nights I sat with you, doctored you, prayed for you,

NO CHARGE.

For the time and the tears and the cost through the years,

NO CHARGE.

For the nights filled with dread, and the worries ahead,

NO CHARGE.

For advice and knowledge and the cost of your College,

NO CHARGE.

For the toys, food and clothes and for wiping your nose,

NO CHARGE.

Son, when you add it all up, the full cost of my LOVE is,

NO CHARGE.

When the boy finished reading, tears welled in his eyes. He realized one lesson in life – Love is PRICELESS.

To his mother, he said, “I sure do love you, mummy. I’m sorry.”

Then he took the pen and in big letters, he wrote

“ALL PAID FULLY.”

Now, let’s dream.

A tag by Wen and Sting on what I really want to do on Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day is meant for mothers. Although I yearn to have some time for myself to indulge in something that I like without the children, it will not be what I really want for Mother’s Day. That will have to wait til another day.

What makes me a mother? Children! Without children, I’m not a mother. So, what I really want to do on Mother’s Day is to spend time with my children as well as my mother. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, movie and shopping, whatever we do and wherever we go, as long as we do it together, I would be very happy. Hugs and kisses, well behaved children, no nagging for a day and a happy look on my mom’s face, are what I wish for.

Don’t hold back. Let it rip! Will you share your Mother’s Day Fantasies on your blog. Then pass it on to other Mothers to share. Lets be silly and let our hair down. Then add your name and blog post url to the list and let it go around. I’ll start with mine. Anyone can participate in this. Just write your blog post and add your name to the list. Its that simple.

Love Q Week 2

LOVE Q is a new weekly meme where we are given a question with regards to love. If you would like to join, please click here.

This week’s Love Q:

When it comes to love, is it better to follow your head or your heart?

It really depends on each individual, on how each individual see “LOVE”. Some may follow their hearts but some may be too practical to let their hearts rule.

For me, both hearts and heads must work together and you would have guessed what kind of person I am.

I can fall in love but still tell myself to stop if he doesn’t make a good husband or he is not accepted by my parents or me by his parents. I love to watch movies and read novels on romance and dream about the romantic “Romeo” who would still be with me despite the objections by both families but in reality, I know I can’t allow it to happen.

On the other hand, I will not force myself to love someone who is good in everything if there is no sparks between us. How do I live with a person whom I would only treat as a friend or a brother? I just can’t!

Within me, I want my heart to rule, to let go of all worries and fears, but my head is there to tell me that there is responsibility that I should consider other than love.

So, heart or head? Let’s see what Admidrin had to say in this.

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

This is a post for charity. For those who are living in America, please read. For those who are not, please help to spread the word.

I have three picky eaters at home who would pick and choose and tell me what they want to eat and what they do not want to eat. It is sad to see this when I think about children who die of hunger. While our children are picking and choosing, the poor children out there would take anything they can find. Sometimes, I would print pictures of children who are starving or children who have malnutrition and show them to my children, hoping that they would be grateful for the food they have.

Let’s look at the statistics:

Out of the 6.7 billion world population, 3.6 million people died of hunger this year (statistics as of today, 5th May 2008. Source: here) while 35 million Americans are at risk of hunger and 96 billion pounds of food are thrown away by the food industry in America each year.

Why this difference? Why are some people enjoying good food while some others starve almost everyday? What can we, humans who are lucky enough to have food everyday, help other humans who are longing to have a bite of anything?

Each and every individual in America can do their part this Saturday, 10 May 2008, by participating in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s biggest one-day food drive. With joint efforts by Campbell Soup Company and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), the purpose of this food drive is to reduce hunger through delivery of collected food items to food bank members of America 's Second Harvest – The Nation's Food Bank Network and other hunger relief organizations in more than 10,000 local communities.

You don’t have to be very rich to help. All you need to do is to donate nonperishable food items such as canned soup, canned meat and fish, canned juices, canned vegetables and fruits, boxed goods (cereal, etc.) as well as pasta and rice, which are not expired, by placing them in a sturdy bag next to your mail box before the regular mail collection time. 230,000 letter carriers would then collect these items all across the country. Please do not place food items in breakable containers such as glass.

This picture is not intended to portray racial discrimination.

With a simple gesture, you are helping to reduce hunger.

Thank You For Your Suggestions

Remember my previous post? I know you do. Well, I managed to capture some more photos - the more extreme positions. Do you think I should correct him or leave him alone?

Many of you suggested getting him a smaller chair. Here's how he sits on a stool.

Difficult to change, eh?

Here are some suggestions which I have not tried.

Tammy suggested a booster seat.

Kellan suggested putting a pillow on the chair.

Laskigal suggested having him make a special seat cushion so that he would be more incline to sit on it.

Alycia suggested putting some things on the side of the chair to make the space just enough to fit his butt.

The New Parent suggested telling him and showing him several times the position we want him to sit in.

Thank you everybody for all your wonderful suggestions. I will try them out and let you know the result.

Love Q Week One

Created by Tot's Mom at Short Sweet Poems, LOVE Q is a new weekly meme where we are given a question with regards to love. Sounds interesting? Do join us and have fun. All you got to do is to click here and leave a comment stating your interest to join.

This week’s Love Q:

If you are being romantically pursued but you are not interested, what would you do to let the person know? For instance, would you be direct and blunt or would you drop hints?

My Answer:

Most girls would know how it feels to be pursued. I was rather silly when I was young, always feeling very scared and worried when pursued by someone I have no feelings for. A very good male friend of mine was always there to help me out with all my “love” problems, reading all my “love letters” and telling me what to do. Every time I told him I had to reject a boy, I knew he would be happy although he didn’t show. I think you would know why. So, my approach was rather direct but not blunt, rather straight forward but in a nice way. I’m not sure whether it hurts more but I’d rather not leave any boy out there any hope.
